# Donations Report

The **Donations** report is the authority on giving: every donation received in the date range, whether it came in with a ticket purchase, at checkout for a class, or as a direct gift. Use it for donor thank-yous, grant reporting, and tracking how giving trends across your season.

This report filters by **date range only** — the presets and date pickers work the same as everywhere else in Reports (see [Getting Started with Reports](https://docs.crowdwork.com/for-theatres/reports-and-analytics)).

## What It Shows

* **Donations Received** — the headline total for the range, with the gift count, **Average Gift**, **Largest Gift**, number of **Donors**, and how many gifts came **With a Message** from the patron.
* **By Event** — where patrons gave, event by event, with each event's share of total giving.
* **Month by Month** — the giving trend across the range (up to the most recent 24 months).
* **Top Donors** — your most generous patrons in the range, with gift counts and totals. Donors with a customer record link straight to that record, so a thank-you note is one click away.

If any donations were refunded in the range, a note at the bottom shows the count and amount — refunded gifts are not counted in the totals above.

## Why This Total Can Differ from the Consolidated Summary

This report counts **every donation received**. The [Consolidated Summary](https://docs.crowdwork.com/for-theatres/reports-and-analytics/consolidated-summary-report)'s donations card counts only donation dollars allocated to the admissions in its scope — so gifts on donation-only or gift-card-only orders appear here but not there. When the two disagree, this report is the one to trust for giving totals.

## Line Items and CSV

**View Line Items** opens the individual gifts behind the totals. **Export to CSV** downloads every donation in the range — the report's totals reconcile to the file, ready for your development spreadsheet or grant paperwork.
