# Gift Cards Report

The **Gift Cards** report answers the bookkeeper's question about gift cards: *how much do we owe?* Every unspent dollar on a gift card is a liability — money patrons have paid you for value you haven't delivered yet — and this report keeps that number, and the activity around it, in one place.

## One Report, Two Clocks

**The date range scopes the sold and redeemed activity; the balance you owe is always current.** Run the report for last month and the Sold and Redeemed cards show last month's activity — but Outstanding Balance is today's liability, not last month's. That's the number your books need, and it's why the hero doesn't change when you change the dates.

## Filters

* **Date range** — scopes the activity cards (sold, redeemed, returned).
* **Card Status** — scopes which cards the report looks at: **Active** (the default), **All**, **Paused**, **Archived**, or **Refunded**.

## What It Shows

* **Outstanding Balance** — the current total owed across cards with balance remaining, with the total **Issued Value**, the percentage **Redeemed**, the card count, and how many cards are **Fully Used**.
* **Sold** — cards sold in the range: count, value, and average card size.
* **Redeemed** — value spent in the range, across how many checkouts and cards.
* **Returned to Cards** — refunds issued back onto gift cards in the range. A refund onto a gift card restores that card's balance (and with it, your liability).
* **Balance Aging** — how old the unspent balances are, bucketed by card age. A large old bucket is a nudge for a "use your gift card" campaign.
* **All Cards Issued** — a status breakdown of every gift card ever issued. This section ignores the filters above by design — it's the census, not the period view.

## Line Items and CSV

**View Line Items** opens the card-level list behind the report. **Export to CSV** downloads it — one row per gift card, reconciling to the report's totals.
