# Membership Value Report

Measure your membership program with the Membership Value report — recurring value, what members pay versus what they redeem, engagement, retention, and upcoming renewals.

The **Membership Value** report tells you what your membership program is worth — the recurring value on the books, whether the program is paying for itself, and how members behave over time. It's the report to open before a pricing conversation or a board question about memberships.

## Filters

* **Date range** — scopes the activity sections: engagement, retention, and value delivered in the period.
* **Status** — which memberships the report describes: **Active** (the default), **All**, **Paused**, **Canceled**, or **Archived**. It drives most of the report — the recurring-value headline, member counts and averages, Value vs. Cost, engagement, By Tier, and Upcoming Renewals — as well as the **View Line Items** list. Only **Retention** and **All Members** ignore it.
* **Tier** — narrow to a single membership tier, or all tiers.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Snapshot vs. activity:** the recurring-value figures (Monthly Recurring Value, Annual Recurring, member counts) describe the membership book *as it stands now*. The engagement, retention, and value-delivered figures honor your date range. If the hero doesn't move when you change the dates, that's why.
{% endhint %}

## The Headline: Monthly Recurring Value

**Monthly Recurring Value** is what the subscriptions of the members in view — active ones, unless you change the Status filter — add up to per month, with **Annual Recurring**, the average per member, the **Redemption Rate**, and **Churn** alongside.

{% hint style="info" %}
**One-time memberships count as members, not as recurring value.** A tier billed once (rather than monthly or yearly) adds its members to the active count but contributes nothing to recurring value — so if your theatre sells one-time memberships, the average-per-member figure will read lower than your recurring tiers alone would suggest.
{% endhint %}

## Value vs. Cost: Is the Program Working?

Four cards compare the two sides of the ledger for the period:

* **Revenue Collected** — what members paid.
* **Value Delivered** — the value of the member benefits redeemed: the amount the membership took off each ticket or registration. On a Free Admission tier that's the full face value; on a Percent Off or Dollars Off tier it's only the discount, not the ticket's full price.
* **Net to Theatre** — revenue minus value delivered.
* **Value Ratio** — value delivered as a share of revenue.

A positive Net to Theatre means members pay more than they redeem; a negative one means members are getting more value than they pay for — which may be exactly what you intend, but it's better known than guessed.

## Tiers, Engagement, Retention, and Renewals

* **By Tier** — each tier's members, monthly and annual recurring value, and value redeemed.
* **Engagement** — how many members redeemed anything in the period, average redemptions per member, and how many were dormant (no redemptions). A redemption is counted per admission, so a member who claims two seats at one showtime counts as two redemptions.
* **Retention** — new members, churned members with the churn rate, and average tenure. Retention looks at every membership regardless of the Status filter (it still follows the date range and tier).
* **Upcoming Renewals** — renewal counts and value coming due in the next stretch of days, for cash-flow planning.
* **All Members** — a status breakdown of every membership on record. This section ignores the filters above by design.

## Line Items and CSV

**View Line Items** opens the member-level list behind the report. **Export to CSV** downloads it — one row per member, reconciling to the report's totals.
