🌎Scheduling an Event in Another Timezone

Running a show or class in a different timezone from your theatre? Enter its start time converted into your theatre's timezone — here's how, with a conversion table.

CrowdWork schedules every event in your theatre's timezone, which is set once in Theatre Settings. If an event takes place in a different timezone, you enter its start time converted into yours. This guide shows how.

How It Works

Because there's only one timezone per theatre, an event that physically happens somewhere else has to be entered converted into your theatre's timezone.

Worked example. A New York theatre — Timezone set to Eastern — is running a 7:00 PM show in New York and a 7:00 PM show in Los Angeles on the same night.

• The New York show is entered as 7:00 PM. Nothing special.

• The Los Angeles show has to be entered as 10:00 PM, because 7:00 PM Pacific is 10:00 PM Eastern.

• The public event page labels that show in your theatre's timezone: 10:00 PM EDT.

Say the real local time in your own words. Put the event's actual local start time in the event description or in the event name — "Doors 7:00 PM Pacific" — so patrons buying tickets aren't left doing the conversion themselves.

Only the four main US zones are shown, and the gap between them is a whole number of hours — so any other curtain time shifts by the same amount. A 6:30 PM Pacific show in an Eastern theatre is entered as 9:30 PM, the same three-hour jump as the 7:00 PM row.

About the other US zones. The Timezone picker also offers Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, and Indiana (East). The four zones in the table above shift together for daylight saving, so their offsets hold year-round — but Arizona and Hawaii don't observe daylight saving, so their gap to the others changes by an hour in the spring and again in the fall. If either is involved, check the offset for your specific dates rather than reusing a number from last season.
